We believe that these Packington Cockerels are the very best you will find. These big birds lead long and happy lives, and this is reflected in the taste. These cockerels roam freely through green pastures of Staffordshire. Their natural diet is supplemented with the finest maize corn delivering a healthy, happy and stress free bird with a golden glow.
This Free Range Cockerel has superb depth of flavour and makes for a perfect twist on the Easter chicken.
To enhance the deep taste, the meat is game hung to intensify the natural flavour of these carefully reared, free range, birds.
All of our Christmas poultry come their giblets, so you can make delicious stocks and gravy to compliment the flavour of the meat.

Our free range Cockerels are supplied by Packington Free Range, who’s philosophy is simple – what’s good for their poultry and the land will naturally be good for us. It’s this philosophy that enables us to provide the most succulent, richly flavoured meat, often lost in todays intensive farming methods.
Remove from the fridge and bring to room temperature and pre-heat your oven to 200°C.
Squeeze half a lemon over the cockerel and place the squeezed lemon in cavity along garlic, parsnip chunks, celery and garden herbs.
Sprinkle the bird with salt and pepper then place it breast side down, cover with foil in a roasting tin and cook for 30 minutes.
Reduce the oven temperature to 140°C and cook for approximately 45 minutes per kilo plus and additional 30 minutes.
Basting the bird approximately every hour during cooking will help retain the moisture and add to the flavour.
Rest for at meat 30 minutes before carving.
