This is the antithesis of everything you are told about rural shops. Big and bustling, with things that yelled “Eat me”, and almost everything collected within five miles of the shop. Its pie was made with short hot-water crust, perhaps not quite as much jelly as you’d like, but the meaty filling has a wonderful piggy flavour. the straight-up spicing of the white pepper gave it that characteristic palely hot afterburn.
